How many of us get that sinking pit in the stomach feeling on a Sunday night? That chutti time is over, and back to work the next day. It’s common to open up our social media accounts and be flooded with a barrage of ‘ugh, Monday’ posts, but here we have compiled some of our favorite tips for you to turn your Monday into Mon-slay!
1. Change the way you view Monday
The first day back to work, Monday is actually a great way to set a pace for the rest of the week, if we choose to start it off with happiness and productivity. Instead of spending half the day wallowing about Monday, what if we choose to change the way we look at it? Here’s a quote that we absolutely love, and have set as a reminder to pop up every Monday, to remind us that everyday is what we make of it.
“Dear Monday, thanks for having the word “mon” in you. That's French for “mine”, in case you weren't aware, Monday, but it makes me think of you more as “my day” and frankly that sounds like a much more promising start to the week.”
2. Set a morning routine
It’s easy to get overwhelmed so set the pace of your day by starting with a morning routine. Instead of waking up and checking our emails/social media first thing in the morning, how about we take a few minutes to sip our coffee or a calming tea, eat a nourishing breakfast, indulging in our favorite magazine, (or reading an article that we had marked from before to read on Monday morning, we especially love ones that highlight positivity) and spend just a couple of minutes with our eyes closed counting all the blessings we have in our life? Although it requires starting off a bit earlier, the extra time will ease us into the day and week, and do wonders for our sanity.
3. Set a small goal to smash by the end of the week
Read a book, try a new recipe, learn a new foreign language word, smash a new workout, write an article (even if you decide not to publish it), experiment with a new hairstyle – basically, sky’s the limit!
4. Visualize and dream big!
Want to know something fun? When you visualize something, it activates the same part of your brain as when you’re actually doing whatever you’re setting your sights on. The very same part. Now this obviously has a multitude of benefits, but our favorite is that energy attracts energy, so when we mentally put our mind in motion of something, it brings in more of the same energy! So go ahead, dream big, and believe that all is possible - nobody is standing in your way but yourself.
