For most people, going to a luxury spa is the ultimate self-care, pampering experience. 

 

 As amazing as it is to be able to use decadent products, avail exclusive treatments, and the relaxing atmosphere of a luxury spa, who has the time, money, and ability to go to a luxury spa every single week—or even just once a month?

 

Even busy lives aside, most of our budgets just don’t allow it? Does that mean that a spa experience becomes, at best, a very special, one-time treat, if we go at all?

 

We decided to think about creating a luxury spa experience at home, one that doesn’t break the bank either, and one that helps you comfort and indulge yourself in your own time and space…sound too good to be true? Read on…

 

AMBIANCE – This is possibly the most important bit, and differentiates your everyday washing-face-and-hair from a spa-like experience. It doesn’t have to be exotic or expensive, or even perfect. Going to the spa is a sensorial experience, so lets try and create that at home!

Here are some ideas to get you started: 

Is there a space in your home that can be set aside? It might be a bathroom, or a corner of your bedroom. Clear a space where you can sit and set up for a relaxing, pampering experience. 

 

  • SOUND : Choose music to set the mood.. You could choose relaxing instrumental, classical, folk, or nature sounds. (There are plenty of great videos and sounds available)!

 

  • SIGHT : We love using low lighting, or even candlelight to create a dreamy atmosphere.

  

  • SMELL : Scent can create an amazing mood - Relaxing and calming lavender, refreshing and revitalizing citrus smells; or awakening peppermint. Put them in a diffuser or oil warmer—It’s completely up to you!

 

  • TASTE: You can use herbal teas, lemon-honey-ginger boosters, or even make yourself a jug of spa detox water by tossing in some lemons, cucumber and mint.

 

  • TOUCH: A special set of clothes, a robe, some slippers – something comfortable, or that makes you feel special, like your separate spa day wardrobe.

 

Now that you’ve got your ambiance covered, let’s think about the yummy treatments that you want to do..


A Foot Soak

“Your feet will bring you to where your heart is!”

Bathing is a wonderful way to relax and unwind, and it’s a great option to start off with but if you don’t have a tub, you can still do a foot bath, and get the same benefits. You can use fresh flowers, Epsom salts, and even drops of essential oils. Afterwards, you can moisturize your feet and wear warm socks to lock the moisture in.

Hair Mask

“Invest in your hair, it’s the crown you never take off!”

You can choose to just put your hair back and up, but if you’re wanting a full body experience, we recommend pampering your hair too. After all, styling and pollution and general stress really takes a toll so if we’re taking the time aside, lets go for a full experience. You can choose to use warm oil and gently massage your scalp, boosting circulation and reducing stress from our scalp. If that feels enough, you can wrap your hair up in a towel, but if you want a deeper experience, you can mix up an egg and yoghurt home-made protein treatment and allow your hair to soak in all the goodness!

Body scrub

“Nourishing yourself is attainable, and YOU are worth the effort!”

 Scrubs make your skin glisten, be baby soft, and smell divine. Here’s a tip: Scrub before shaving for the smoothest legs you’ve ever had! 

 This doesn’t have to break the bank either – Here’s a do-it-yourself scrub that you can make simply from ingredients in your kitchen – best part, all natural and free of toxins #WinWin! We choose coffee for it’s skin firming, cellulite reducing benefits!

 INGREDIENTS

  • 1 Cup ground coffee
  • 1 Cup organic sugaror salt
  • 1/2 Cup organic coconut oil
  • 1/2 Tablespoon cinnamon (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Melt coconut oil and allow it to cool but not solidify.
  • Mix all ingredients together and store in an airtight container or mason jar.

 

Face Mask
